A highly innovative Icelandic research SME is looking to participate in a H2020 call BG 1: Large-scale algae biomass integrated bio-refineries. The partners are most likely a research institutes and/or industry leader that are interested in developing a more economical and environmentally friendly holistic solution to algae culture and bio-refinery. The Icelandic SMEs solution will offer a less expensive, more efficient and more environmentally friendly culturing method into the project.

A highly innovative Icelandic research SME is looking to participate in a H2020 call Blue growth 1: Large-scale algae biomass integrated bio-refineries. The call is single stage with funding rate of 100%.

Overall aim of the project:
The objective is to enhance economic viability, lowering costs of algal biomass production and significantly increase production. The aim of the project will be to scale-up the production and harvesting of integrated marine algae and fresh water algae products and bring them nearer to the market in an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable manner.

The Icelandic partner:
The Icelandic SME is presently working on scaling up integrated algae production systems to enhance higher yields, optimising operation conditions and energy saving with optimal CO2 use and limiting contaminants in storage and preservation of harvests. The SME is in addition looking into recycling of nutrients and water. The algae culturing equipment and algae growing processes are being designed with the goal to obtain organic certification.

Potential partners:
The partner is most likely a research institute that is interested in developing a holistic solution to an algae culture and bio-refinery. The Icelandic SMEs solution will offer a less expensive and more environmentally friendly and resource efficient culturing method into the H2020 project.

Roles of the requested partners is coordination, proposal writing and project/budget management. Field of expertise and/or experience of the partners is within development and/or setting up refineries.

Deadline for the call is 17/02/2016 and duration of the project is 3 years, the deadline for responding to this partner search is 03/02/2016. Anticipated start of the project is end of year 2016, early 2017.
